Students of Manchester Abbey College will be required to ride their bikes next year when they enroll in the new Academic Studies with Cycling Training Programme, launched in partnership with Manchester Cycling Academy.

The innovative course, which will be a first in the UK and is believed to be a first in Europe, will see aspiring cyclists from around the world combine high-quality education with best-in-class daily apprenticeships.

Students in the pilot program will attend academic classes in the morning where they have flexible options to study A-Levels, GCSEs or the International Foundation Program, and then have the invaluable opportunity to participate in cycling training at the National Cycling Center or on the leafy lanes of Cheshire for a while. afternoon.

The Manchester Cycling Academy has many years of elite sporting experience and students will receive specialized training and guidance that will allow them to succeed on and off the bike. The course has the flexibility to train ‘elite’ students who are dedicated to improving their cycling performance to compete on a global scale or students who enjoy the sport and want to improve while focusing on their studies.

Abbey College Manchester, part of the Abbey DLD Colleges group of institutions, also offers international football and basketball programs in association with IHM Football Academy, a sister organization of International House Manchester and Manchester Giants, pairing students with GCSE, A-level and International qualifications Foundation program with intensive training. The college is also adding tennis to its portfolio of sports programmes, where students will be able to receive professional tennis training three afternoons a week at the Manchester Tennis Centre.

Manchester Cycling Academy is a growing sports education provider providing quality cycling services across North West England in partnership with sporting governing bodies, local authorities, academic and business partners.
