Churches cannot ‘lay flat’ in the run-down environment of the venue, says the pastor

Pastor D from East China says that the church should not lie in a run down atmosphere. Instead you should strive for development and discipline.

Starting in 2021, the term “in place” (or detour) has become a buzzword. In the post-COVID-19 era, “lying down” has been accepted by many people, including many churches, as a response to a changing environment. They find it difficult to survive, not to mention the additional burden of development and growth.

In the past, many churches have sought to grow in size. But in recent years, especially since the outbreak of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), many have found that it is no longer applicable. Thus they have turned to talk of “internal construction”. But Pastor D believes that the internal construction is not enough – there is still a need for development, growth and expansion. Churches should not only nurture their faithful, but also train them to become disciples for a great mission.

Pastor D believes that we should not adopt a passive and negative attitude despite the negative environment. Instead, we should adopt a positive attitude when adjusting and responding.

He continued: The Church must be strategic, and must not become a headless chicken.

Pastor D concluded that the first point is to have a good group of pastors. The second is to preach and develop, and the third is to train disciples. He emphasized that discipleship training can be individual and one for many different audiences. Individual training for members or believers, while one-to-many leadership training is for fellow employees.

Pastor D believes that difficult situations are not just negative – they can be turned around by promoting church growth in difficult situations. He stressed that the church should not lie low, as you cannot graze well if you focus too hard on grazing. The church must have an expanded vision of welcoming new believers while improving its training program in order for the church to grow.

“We must adopt an active stance and be proactive, rather than holding back, being defensive or lying flat. ‘Where there is no vision, people are out of control,’ the Bible says, and so is the church. The church must think about how it can grow even given the circumstances. difficult.”
