DraftKings, Baseball Picks from FanDuel Daily Fantasy (9/9/22): Today

After a very strange Thursday with only six MLB games, it’s back with a full slate of action tonight! 12 of the 15 baseball games happening today will happen tonight, thus we get a great and exciting main roster for the MLB DFS.

Just because the football season has started, that doesn’t mean it’s time to stop playing MLB DFS. And if you’ve been grinding it with me since April, let’s end up strong as there are a lot of slabs left and therefore a lot of opportunity to make money.

As always, this article will provide DraftKings and FanDuel’s daily fantasy baseball lineup selections. The main menu closes for Friday at 7:05 EST on 8/9/2022. Squad selections will range from some of the elite high priced players to mid-priced options and value plays. I’ll give you a few of the best throwing options, and then some players, defensive players, and teams to stack! You can also read more DFS tips and squad selection for other sports here. It’s also essential to keep an eye on injury news and MLB starting lineups today. Now that we’ve brushed all that away, the choice is up!

DraftKings, FanDuel Pitchers – MLB DFS Lineup Picks

Nick Lodolo @ MIL ($8,600, $9,700)

I really love what this kid did in the junior season. He has some excellent things about swinging and failing and has done well quite often. When he gets into trouble, it’s usually walking, which is unusual for a small bowler. He faced Milwaukee earlier this year once and walked four times, resulting in an early hookup and an overall poor outing. But Lodolo has a huge upside here with the K dropping over 7 today as the Brewers are a team very vulnerable to attacking on the left. He’s an underdog on the road, but I like that attack he left against Alexander today to give him some support in the running. If he can juggle McCutchen and Renfroe in this lineup, I’d love his chances of a really strong outing and a big fancy score.

Ross Stripling @tex ($8,200 kroner, $8,700 fed)

In four games since his return to the Toronto tournament on August 17, Stripling has made it 2-1 with a 2.59 ERA and 27 strokes in 24 innings! Stripling is an underrated bowler who has been so vital to Toronto this season, especially with Kikuchi going bankrupt and Jose Berrios losing most of the year. Anyway, Strip has a good match here with the Texans and backs it up with a good attack as well. I know we’re used to making it cheaper, but I still think it’s reasonably priced in the 8k range based on how well it’s been on display lately and would love to pair it up with Lodolo on DK as an affordable combo.

DraftKings, FanDuel Infielders – MLB DFS Lineup Picks

Reese Hoskins – 1B, PHI vs. Patrick Corbin ($5,000, $2900 FD)

It’s been a while since Hoskins made it to the last house, but I think tonight he might go a long way from leftist Patrick Corbin. Yes, Corbin has now done well in two games in a row, but this Velez side have come under heavy attack this season a few times already.

Hoskins has three HR jobs from Corbin and some great divisions this season against the left, posting .416 wOBA and .281 ISO. He, like Pete Alonso, is a Uber who always shows up well against a lefty weight-throwing/slither like Corbin. So just imagine you’re clicking Pete Alonso today, because Hoskins looks just as good as Pete (who also owns Corbin) in this match.

Max Muncy – 2B/3B, LAD vs. Mike Clevinger (D$5,000, FD $2900)

I don’t want to chase a hot racket, but at the same time, look back at Muncie’s last two games! He’s gone 6-9 with three home runs in the last two games of the Giants series and we’ve seen him go on these kinds of streaks before. I wanted to dig around a bit more here to see if this match was better than it looked because Clevinger is a pretty decent bowler.

And yes, it’s an excellent match for Muncy after all. Clevinger was dropping an average of 337 feet on left-hand balls at 45% of his volley average. This smells like a home race, especially when you consider that he throws the fastball about 68% of the time against the left and that’s a ground that Muncie can certainly shoot.

Elvis Andros – SS, CHW vs. James Kaprielian ($2,800 DKK, $2,300 FD)

Andrus has been box free now for the last couple of weeks apparently and I’m not sure what to do to get a price increase. He set off with another home run last night and scored three runs on the White Sox attack in athletics. He’s been ripping off lately and I don’t see any reason not to connect him here against Kaprielian, the bowler who has lame to xFIP over 6 this season (and over 7+ in his last four starts) including some pretty bad numbers for RHH.

Vaughn Grissom – 2B/SS, ATL vs. Robbie Ray (D$3,200, $3,000 fed)

I probably won’t stack Atlanta tonight against Ray, but I like Grissom here against Ray because he’s so cheap and he’s back for another really good streak, scoring double-digit points in four of his last five games. The sample size is still small, but the .470 wOBA and .259 ISO against the left certainly catch my eye.

DraftKings, FanDuel Outfielders – MLB DFS Lineup Picks

TJ Friedl – OF and CIN vs. Jason Alexander ($2,900 DAN, PHP 3,000)

If you’re anything like me, then probably about a month ago you were like, “Who is this guy?” Well the answer is that he is a very good hitter so far with 5 home runs, 19 RBI and 6 stolen bases through his first 151 bats.

Friedel was scoring anywhere from 1-5 in the Reds’ squad and I’m focused on the left of the Reds today in that spot against Jason Alexander. While Alexander allowed for a higher wOBA and ISO for the right, the ball hit gauges show that the left hits it more aggressively (average exit velocity 92 mph, 42.5% solid contact). Alexander also has a strong hemisphere average split, which is 67% for the right, but only 39% for the left.

Friedel has seen his strength trending lately with his regular playing time and over the past 30 days he has been posting .494 wOBA and .367 ISO against the Whigs. This game is in Milwaukee, not Cincy, but we know Miller Park can be good for a power hitter too.

Jake Fraley – OF, CIN vs. Jason Alexander ($3,100, $2,700 acre)

I don’t usually do this, but let’s go back to the same place and talk about Jake Fraley too. He’s missed a good part of the season early on, but he’s arguably their best hitter over the past month and a half. Like Friedl, he’s “exciting” with .423 wOBA and .361 ISOs within the past month. It’s not a major stolen primary threat, but it’s a nice cheap powerhouse and I think rolling in with Friedel or Frale as one of the cheap soccer players is a good move in cash games. Then group them together in tournaments!

Kyle Tucker – OF, HOU vs. Michael Lorenzen ($5,200, $3,600 fd)

You save a bunch of salary with some of these value picks, let’s spend it on someone. Kyle Tucker was one of the best DFS plays of the second half of the season. He’s been mashing the ball lately and has been active at base as well, with three steals over the past week. Very few players in MLB have the combination of strength/speed that Tucker and Lorenzen (new from IL) have is the definition of a batsman.

Draft Kings, FanDuel MLB DFS Stacks

Here are tonight’s best stackers (in the order I like them)

There are no chorus groups in this article, this is a cheat! Obviously, I’d love to mix in some Coors bats, but as a full stack, it might be too owned tonight with a relatively low total (10.5) at Coors Field and a couple of pitchers who could easily troll Davies and Marquez.

I hope I gave you a head start on your search today and I wish you good luck! If you have questions about DFS or fantasy baseball, my DMs are always open and I really appreciate you taking the time to read my picks today.
