Houston Texans starting quarterback Dameon Pierce is getting some well-deserved recognition for his preseason work, and those feelings only continued on Saturday.
ESPN Texas reporter DJ Bien-Aime offered his observations this weekend on who Houston’s best quarterback has been so far:

I don’t want to jump, but Dameon pierce looks like the one #Texans best running back. Vision, footwork, explosiveness. He is nice.
Love from Pierce is sticking around in training camp from a number of sources, and that’s certainly an eye-opener from a fantasy perspective.

Dameon Pierce is the RB1.
It is the third day where there is a gap between him and the other #WeAreTexans RB is stunning.

RB Dameon Pierce could be #Texans first 1,000-yard rusher since Carlos Hyde in 2019. As a rookie…

Dameon Pierce continues to shine in the running game. It was hard to miss him.
I just ended a good run. #Texans
As much as the 5’10”, 218-pound Pierce looks like a runner, he will still need to improve as a blocker during the transition from college to the pros, according to offensive coordinator Pep Hamilton.
According to Fantasy Football Calculator, Pierce holds the 117th overall draft average in point-per-reception leagues, which puts him in the middle of the 10th round in the 12-team league. He currently ranks 46th overall among running backs.
The former Florida star amassed 2,228 yards and 28 touchdowns in four years at the school. He rushed for 5.7 yards per carry and 13 scores in 2021. Pierce never had more than 123 touches in a season, but he did a lot with his limited action. He also showed his value in the passing game with 19 catches for 216 yards and three scores in 2021.
DraftKings Nation’s Kate Magdziuk chimed in with some more impressive numbers from her college days.
The top three Texans on the depth chart include Marlon Mack, Rex Burkhead and Pierce, but the rookie could be the RB1 given his tremendous training camp. It’s possible Pierce could cede time to Mack and Burkhead early before the rookie takes over at quarterback. Or maybe he piled on the rock and pitched early for Houston.
Regardless, getting Pierce in the 10th round of the draft is an absolute steal at this point. His ADP seems almost certain to rise as the regular season approaches, but Pierce is one of the best mid-to-late round steals.
