Nikolai and Will met in 2006 at Gain Capital’s New Jersey office and both moved to the Wall Street office. Nikolai focused on marketing FX products to Russian-speaking clients while Will managed a team of FX sales representatives before moving to London in 2008 to lead EMEA sales for FOREX.com UK.

At the end of 2011, he found his way back to New York City and switched from retail FX to the institutional side of the market running the main business of GTX Direct, a corporate ECN network. Fast-forward to mid-2020, Will took the position of Head of DMA Product at GAIN Capital, leaving the company in the midst of completing its StoneX Group acquisition.

Capitalise.ai… but only after a cup of coffee and a Manhattan sunrise

Willl is now Head of Sales at Capitalise.ai, a platform that allows traders to easily create, test and automate any trading scenario using simple English script without the need for coding.

After joining Capitalise.ai at the start of the COVID-19 lockdowns, Klippel shared how much he loves remote work, starting each morning enjoying a “proper latte” while sitting on his front steps watching the sun rise over Manhattan. “I take everything and then go to work. Very therapeutic.”

Since Capitalise.ai is a Tel Aviv-based operation, commuting to work won’t be available anytime soon, but even if the company sets up an office in New York, Klippel says he doesn’t see himself in the office full of time.

Send a message and go away

About Capitalise.ai, Klippel explained that it is not like other low code/no code platforms because it is much simpler. It’s like: send a message and “go away”.

This “intuitive” trading automation technology deals with basic newsletters and technical analysis, and allows users to formulate their needs in a variety of ways.

Thriving since the pandemic, the company has outsourced major players in the trading industry, including Binance and FTX in the crypto space, but has also done deals across the forex and CFD industry as well as with top-tier brokers such as FXCM, Interactive Brokers, ICC Securities and Pepperstone.

Forex.com will be the next in a row to launch this month as they have just completed the integration with Capitalise.ai, according to Klippel. So we should expect an official announcement very soon.

Will Nikolai told that fintech releases new features every month based on feedback from existing traders and partners. The real-time backtest was one of the most highly anticipated features to be rolled out and returns results within a few seconds after user requests. He said that this feature is a huge step forward in the democratization of algorithmic trading.

“Crypto Connoisseur” compares the Ozarks to the real Missouri

The head of sales at Capitalise.ai is also an active trader, and Nikolai took the opportunity to ask him about his thoughts on meme stocks, manipulation, and the democratization of trading.

The self-identified “cryptocurrency expert” said that his personal belief is that the “crypto winter” is “incredibly healthy” for the industry, which won’t go away because “a lot of money has been invested in this.” He said regulators will help the digital asset space become a more efficient regulated market.

The interview also covered his personal life in his hometown of St. Louis, how his passion for photography and film turned into a side business during the pandemic, and how the TV show of the Ozarks portrayed rural Missouri as an “extreme figure”.

Capitalise.ai will be at iFX Expo Bangkok and will invite anyone following the podcast to connect with them via LinkedIn to arrange a meeting.
