Illini Volleyball Inks Three Inks on National Signature Day – University of Illinois Athletics
Champaign, Illinois – Illinois volleyball coach Chris Tamas The addition of three student-athletes was announced on Wednesday (November 9). Lily Barry, Taylor de Boer and Gabi Dean will join the Ileni volleyball team for the 2023 campaign.

Tamas en Bari coach: “I have seen Lily develop since my first year here in Illinois. She is a very dynamic and talented athlete. Most importantly she brings a competitive fire to the ground and she has enhanced her game every year I have seen her play. She has been a leader in all her teams and this quality is just as important as any team Lily has raised the bar for all the teams that have competed on her and will continue to do so for us. We welcome Lily to our campus this spring and are ready to work with her at Hof.”
Why Illinois? “I chose Illinois because as a kid I dreamed of playing on this program. Once I got to campus, I knew it was right for me, I immediately felt at home.”

Tamas coach on de Boer: “Taylor fits the mold of the kind of six players we are looking for. She has worked hard on her game over the past several years including being selected to coach with the Canadian National Development Team. She has a dream and vision to play professional volleyball and help bring Canada back to the Olympics and podium. We are excited to be a part of her journey and look forward to developing it with us starting this spring.”
Why Illinois? “I chose Illinois because I felt the coaches’ skill level was second to none, I knew I wanted to play Big Ten volleyball, the most competitive conference, but I needed to find the right place. The coaches in Illinois took their time to get to know me as a player and as a person which made me feel like they They will create a special culture with the team.They are well versed in what it takes to be a successful and good role model with a lot of success among them.He also had experience in international volleyball and the path forward from that perspective.All the Illini coaches spoke of the commitment to their players and there was authenticity to every one of them, so there is a great confidence already developed.I also know that playing in Illinois will complement my desire to continue playing for Team Canada in international competition.And I can say that in Illinois I will be in a very competitive environment where I have had to push myself daily to get to the next level in Every time I hit the field – I thrive in this kind of environment.After visiting Champaign I felt like there was no better place for me and I felt like home.The community within Champaign was very interested in sports and very supportive of the athletes and sports programs, and his A real special feeling. The university considers itself one of the best in the country in terms of education and that was an easy decision. The team themselves are fighters and they show incredible determination, perseverance and leadership on the field, I knew being part of this team would be a huge honor and it would be a place where I could grow, develop and contribute as a person and as an athlete.”

Tamas coach on the brig: “Gabi is one of the toughest workers I have ever seen at a youth level. I have never seen her give anything but give her best be it a match or in training. She will bring out the best in everyone because of the example she sets and the effort she constantly puts in. She is an impressive mind and understands The game is really good. Gabe will fit in well with the team and we are excited to have her join the Eleni family.”
