MLB Odds: Pirates Vs. Predict Orioles, odds and choice – 6/8/2022

The Pittsburgh Pirates will continue their three-game streak with the Baltimore Orioles on Saturday evening at Camden Yards. With that said, it’s time to check out our MLB odds series, which includes our Pirates-Orioles predictions and the pick we’ve made below.

Pittsburgh fresh out of the close by Baltimore last night, at a 3-7 stretch. At 43-63, Pittsburgh is third in the NL Central, battling with the Chicago Cubs and Cincinnati Reds to stay out of last place.

Baltimore, even after the trade deadline sale, continues to shock the baseball world. With a 55-51 record, including four straight wins, Baltimore is fourth in the AL East, but only a game-and-a-half from the last Wild Card spot.

Why can hackers cover the spread

JT Brubaker will take the ball tonight in Baltimore, and that’s good news for Pirates fans. Brubaker has a 4.40 ERA in his 20 starts, and hit 105 in his 104.1 innings. Brubaker’s curve ball is his strength, ranking 88th in turnover, and speculators only coming in at 0.193 against supply. On the road, Brubaker succeeded, with a 3.71 ERA in games away from PNC Park. The bad news is that the Pittsburgh Bullpen was pretty bad, ranking 27th in the league with 4.42 ERA. Closer David Bednar was injured, but Will Crowe (3.09 ERA) took over, which is a solid choice. Reliever Chase De Jong compiled a career year, with a sparkling 1.95 ERA in 37 runs.

Crime was an issue with Pittsburgh, as evidenced by the -151 operating differential. Fortunately, Brian Reynolds has walked around several trade rumors and is still a pirate. Reynolds fired 16 home runs with a hitting average of 258. Eleven of his 16 home runs came on the road. The sexy six-foot-seven Oneil Cruz makes short leagues, and has racked up eight home runs in 38 games this season. The team holds 106 home races and is ranked 17th in the league.

Why the oriole can cover the spread

Baltimore was the darling of the first half, and that charm hasn’t run out yet. Austin Voth will be the primary bowler tonight, bringing with him a 5.54 ERA in 30 games (7 starts). Since Baltimore called him to cancel the waivers, Voth has been amortized, with a 2.84 ERA in 11 appearances (7 starts). In those seven starts, Voth moved into 2.77 ERA. Voth’s walking rate dropped from 11.3% in 2021 to 7% in 2022. Behind Voth is one of baseball’s most underappreciated. The Bullpen ERA in Baltimore ranks 12th with a score of 3.84. Even after penetrating trading near Jorge Lopez, this bull is full of guns. Goliath Closer Felix Bautista has a 1.77 ERA and 62 strikes in 45.2 rounds. Bautista’s speedball averages 98.8 mph, but the interval is his best pitch. The bat hit just 0.088 against the trap door divider. Lefty Cionel Perez enjoyed a career year as well, with a 1.15 ERA in 39 runs.

The Baltimore squad might look bare without Tre Mancini in it, as he now plays for Houston. There are still some threats to the force, notably Anthony Santander. Santander leads the team with 19 home runs, matching his batting average of 0.259. Santander’s strike rate has been reduced by about five percent, bringing the pace into the year. Last year’s breakout hitter Cedric Mullins didn’t quite match his home run totals, but he has 25 doubles and 24 base steals in the year. Jorge Matteo, on his first extended look, has 10 home runs and 26 stolen bases led by the team. Austin Hayes, Ryan Mountcastle and Adley Rochman have also added over 20 doubles.

Final Pirates-Orioles Prediction & Pick

This might be a very good match, but it’s hard to choose against the Baltimore Bullpen.

Final Oriole Pirate Prediction and Pick: Oriole -1.5 (+128), under 8.5 (-106)
