MSL honors volleyball, golf and tennis players
Lancaster – The Midstate League handed out end-of-season awards for volleyball, golf and tennis and there was no shortage of athletes honored.
Bloom Carroll won the MSL-Buckeye title with a 13-1 record, followed by Circleville (12-2), Liberty Union (7-7), Fairfield Union (6-8), Hamilton Township (6-8), Logan Elm (6-8). ), Tess Valley (4-10) and Amanda Clearcreek (2-12).
Liberty Union freshman Carolyn Berlekamp was named Player of the Year, and Plum Carroll’s Kyle McFerrin was Coach of the Year.
The first team received honors from Bloom’s Carol Kaitlin Young, McKenna Wiseman, Berlekamp and Christian Thompson of Fairfield Union.
The second team honor went to Massey Loeb and Evelyn Brown of the Bulldogs, Race Short of the Lions and ace Grace Davis. Honorable mentions include Katie Marshall of Bloom-Carroll, Jordyn Moore of Liberty Union, Cara Miller of Fairfield Union and Emma Kern of Amanda-Clearcreek.
In the MSL-Cardinal division, Fischer Catholic (14-0) won the league title, followed by Fairfield Christian Academy (12-2), Grove City Christian (10-4), Millersport (7-7), Union Bern (5) -9 ), Miller (4-10), Zanesville Rosecrans (3-11) and Harvest Prep.
Fisher Catholic Senior Avery Bruce was named Player of the Year, and Ireland’s Leslie Davenport was named Coach of the Year.
The first team was honored by Fisher Catholics Avery Bruce and Ellie Bruce Anna Kenny and Emma McCrady, Sylvia Ross of Fairfield Christian, Emily Blevins of Millersport and Bailey Mergon of Burn Union.
The second team honored Irish Sophie Shaw and Vanessa Funk, the Kelly Carpenter riders, the Lakers Lexi Burch and the Fall Diehl Rockets. Among the honorable mentions were Abby Kenny of Fisher Catholic, Claire Deem of FCA, Maisie Schilling of Millersport and Lily Schönbarger of the Berne Union.
In the Midstate League – Buckeye, Bloom Carroll took the league title with 20-0 followed by Tess Valley (14-6), Fairfield Union (11-9), Circleville (9-11), Logan Elm (6-14) and Liberty Union ( 0-14).
Bloom’s Carroll senior Jacob Froth was named Player of the Year, and Bulldogs’ Aaron Walters was Coach of the Year.
The first-team picks went to Bloom-Carroll’s Fruth, Athan McKnabb and Carter Price. The second-team honor went to Michael Wittcraft of Bulldogs and Carsten Dibble, hawks Ty Fisher and James Bean, and the honorary picks were Owen Conrad of Bloom Carol and Caleb Boyer of Fairfield Union.
In the Midstate League – Cardinal, Zanesville Rosecrans (13-0) won the league title followed by Grove City Christian (10-3), Millersport (3-10), Berne Union (2-11), Fairfield. Christian (5-4) and Miller (1-8).
The second team honor went to Michael Levasi and Jordan Ross of Millersport, while Trey Johnston of the Lakers, Keegan McDowell of the FCA and Liam Burns of the Rockets, Zach Hartman and Colt Probasco were selected.
Bloom Carroll won the Mid-State Buckeye Division Championship followed by Logan Elm, Circleville and Teays Valley.
Jhayma Ehrenborg of Bloom Carroll was named Player of the Year and Rick Rowland of the Bulldogs was named Coach of the Year.
Bloom’s Carol 1 team won honors for Ehrenburg, Emily Bratton, Rachel Grove and Caitlin Likens, while teammates Kylie Lyman and Carmen Kuyt were named for the second team and Ariel Howard was an honorable choice.
