It’s almost time at LIC!

A new indoor golf and entertainment facility is scheduled to open on Jackson Avenue later this year.

Five Iron Golf, which will provide golf simulators along with a bar area, will open in late October or early November at the Prime Building – a new 11-story, 71-unit development located at 22-43 Jackson Ave.

The company is moving into 7,400 square feet of space on the ground floor of the mixed-use building, which also houses Trader Joe’s. A Taiwan bubble tea shop called IMilky will also open in the building next month.

The new indoor golf facility will be Five Iron Golf’s first location in Queens and the fifth in New York City. The company has four locations in Manhattan.

Five Iron Golf was established in the Flatiron District in 2017 and has grown rapidly over the past five years with locations throughout the United States. The company has facilities in cities such as Chicago, Baltimore, Las Vegas, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh and Seattle.

The primary mission of Five Iron Golf is to make golf more comfortable and easier. The entertainment component of the work aims to make the game more enjoyable for casual players.

For example, their Long Island facility will come with seven state-of-the-art golf simulators that players of all skill levels can play.

The golf simulators, which are 16 feet wide, consist of small areas of artificial turf where players can hit the ball with a putter on a large screen. Various cameras and sensors then create the distance the ball will travel, with the screen showing the ball’s flight path on the golf course. Each gulf area will accommodate six people.

Five Iron Golf spokeswoman Katie Stott said users will have 93 different golf courses to choose from, each offering a full 18-hole round.

Stots said simulators are a great way for serious golfers to improve their skills without spending hours on the course. Simulators help analyze a golfer’s swing while the facility will also have in-house professional golfers providing private lessons for clients.

There will also be leagues where players can take on each other, Stotts said.

Clients will be able to book half-hour slots and pay per session. There will also be membership options available.

Five Iron Golf will provide putters, but players will be free to use their own clubs as well.

Stots said the facility would be family friendly and could host group sessions and private events. The simulators can also be configured to host fun games such as “longer drive” or “pin-closer” shots. There will also be non-golf games on the simulators such as kicking field targets.

“There will be a lot of great options out there for people of all ages,” Stots said. “We want anyone and everyone to come and enjoy the facility.”

Stots said the facility will also feature a bar area where players can hang out after their sessions and mingle. The bar will come with 12 seats and several TVs.

She said the bar will serve cocktails and beer in addition to bar food.

Five Iron Golf will be open from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to midnight on Saturday, and 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Sundays.
