Seasonal Allergies / Majestic Theater (Manchester) / November 11-13

Comedy by Catherine DeSavino and Kevin Mead Do you have seasonal allergies? You may be experiencing their symptoms and not even know them. Seasonal allergies tend to pop up right around the holidays: Do you feel a tickle in the back of your throat when you realize your veggie dishes are cooking faster than you thought, and now they’re ready an hour before the turkey comes out of the oven? Are you weeping uncontrollably after you almost broke your back and climbed into the attic to find the Christmas lights (and then discover that only half of the strip lights up)? Do you find yourself overheated when family members decide to extend their vacation and “hang out” for a few more days in your house? Then you, my friend, have seasonal allergies. And you are not alone! 9 out of 10 people have seasonal allergies, but no one has a worse case than that of Julia Shelby and her brother Peter. So get ready to laugh off your throat tickle, and clear your sinuses with a healthy dose of holiday fun. www.majestictheatre.net or (603) 669-7469

Stanley Goran plays Jimmy / Tupelo Music Hall (Derry) / 8 p.m.

World-renowned guitarist Stanley Jordan has developed a new live show called “Stanley Jordan Plays Jimmy”. This is a tribute show, but it’s not just an imitation. Instead, Stanley builds on Jimmy’s legacy in a creative way. As Stanley explained, “This is Jimi Hendrix’s fantasy party if Jimmy was still alive and playing today. By reimagining his music and directing his character, I’m trying to make that fantasy come alive.” This added touch of portraying Hendrix today rather than yesterday keeps the show iconic and new for both Stanley and the audience and gives Stanley fans new insight into Stanley’s own evolution. It also makes the show more realistic in a sense, because a real Hendrix party will have unexpected twists and turns. “Stanley Jordan Plays Jimi” attempts to re-create both energy and creativity in the real thing. www.tupelomusichall.com or 5100-437 (603)
