(Hallandale Beach, Florida) November 10, 2022 – 1 / StreetBaccarat, the luxury brand world-renowned for its extraordinary products that symbolize the excellence of French art, today announced Fever. Back at Gulfstream Park in Hallandale Beach, Florida, on Saturday, January 28, 2023, a World Cup 2023 Pegasus, presented by Baccarat It will include $3 million, first-class Pegasus World Cup Championship invitation stakes and $1 million, first-class Pegasus World Cup Championship Turf Invitational Stakes.

“We are delighted to welcome Baccarat as a presenting partner for the 2023 Pegasus World Cup,” said Belinda Stronach, Chairman, CEO and President, 1/ST. “The Pegasus World Cup continues to redefine the Thoroughbred racing experience by building strong partnerships with leading brands like Baccarat that, like us, embrace innovation and excellence.”

Baccarat will also return as the official trophy provider to create the tournament trophies that will be presented to the winners of both the Pegasus 2023 World Cup Invitational and Pegasus World Cup Turf Invitational. The trophies – handcrafted horses and breeding Pegase (French for ‘Pegasus’) of clear and black crystal, more than twenty inches high – are the ultimate symbols of strength, joy, light and energy. Inspired by Greek mythology and embodying Baccarat’s expertise, the Pegases’ movement and exceptional size are masterfully captured and originated from a single block of crystal. Cut by the 90-hour Meilleur Ouvrier de France, and created by Alison Hawkes in collaboration with Baccarat, these sculptures are also impressive feats of craftsmanship. Struck by light, the sculpted material reveals the muscles of the dancing thoroughbred horses. The Black Crystal Pegase, valued at $45,500, will be presented to the winner of the Pegasus World Cup Invitational. The Clear Crystal Pegase, valued at $39,000, will be presented to the winner of the Pegasus World Cup Turf Invitational Competition.

“As a 260-year-old brand, Baccarat continues to stay ahead of the curve not only by producing the best, but by working with the best,” said Jim Sheriff, President and CEO of Baccarat North America. “The Pegasus World Cup is a natural partner for us. We are proud to extend our partnership with them for 2023.”
