About food poisoning
While a variety of illnesses can result from eating unprocessed foods, food poisoning is one of the most serious. Food poisoning, if not treated, can paralyze the muscles needed for breathing, leading to sudden death.

Anyone who has eaten any recalled product that shows signs of food poisoning should immediately seek medical attention, according to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

In foodborne botulism, symptoms generally begin 18 to 36 hours after eating contaminated food. However, symptoms can begin as early as 6 hours or up to 10 days later, according to the CDC website.

Symptoms of food poisoning may include some of the following: double vision, blurred vision, drooping eyelids, slurred speech, difficulty swallowing, trouble breathing, thick-feeling tongue, dry mouth, and muscle weakness. People with food poisoning may not exhibit all of these symptoms at once.

These symptoms are due to the muscle paralysis caused by the venom. If not treated, the disease may progress, and symptoms may worsen to cause paralysis of certain muscles, including those used for breathing and those of the arms, legs, and body from the neck to the pelvic area.

About Cronobacter
Food contaminated with Cronobacter bacteria may not look or smell bad but it can still cause illness. Although Chronobacter bacteria are not commonly associated with human disease, in rare cases they can cause serious or fatal infections. Syphilis can cause rare infections of the bloodstream and central nervous system and has been associated with severe intestinal infections (necrotizing enterocolitis) and septicemia (sepsis), especially in newborns.
