Long Branch, NJ, November 10, 2022 Nearly 100 guests recently gathered at Triumph Brewery in Red Bank to “toast” children’s health in the community at Monmouth Medical Center (MMC’s) annual A Toast to Children’s Health event.
Due to restrictions during the pandemic, the event, which raised more than $100,000 to support pediatric services at MMC’s Unterberg Children’s Hospital, was held in person for the first time since 2019. He also paid tribute to former MMC Pediatric Chief Dr. Meg Fisher, who is currently the Special Adviser to the Commissioner of Health and Medical Director of Clinical and Academic Excellence at MMC.
“It’s been a few years now since we’ve been able to collect and ‘toast’ children’s health, but over the past two years, community support has remained strong,” said Caitlin Olson, regional vice president of development. “During the pandemic, we have presented a series called Meg Talk featuring Dr. Meg Fisher, and I want to thank her and her colleagues for providing us with an educational forum that has given us important information during such unprecedented times.”
Eric Carney, President and CEO of MMC and Monmouth Medical Center, South Campus, noted that throughout her 20-year career at MMC, Dr. Fisher has been a true friend and trusted advisor to the hospital and medical staff, as well as the community.
“As a dear ambassador for MMC, Dr.,” he said. “During her tenure, Monmouth Medical Center became licensed in 2006 by New Jersey as the official children’s hospital for Monmouth and Ocean counties, and under her leadership, Unterberg Children’s Hospital expanded our widely recognized services for children.”
The evening also saw an update by MMC’s Chief of Pediatrics Dr. Jonathan Teitelbaum on pediatric subspecialty services offered at MMC’s Anne Vogel Center for Family Care and Wellness, which opened last spring at Monmouth Mall in Eatontown.
Toast to Children’s Health Council is served by the MMC Children’s Hospital Leadership Council, which is led by a group of individuals who serve as ambassadors for the hospital through education and local events that support Monmouth Medical Center’s commitment to excellence in pediatrics. Their mission is to educate the community about the services available at the hospital, develop charitable relationships and promote the health and wellness of children in the community.
“A healthy community starts with the health of our children, and I would like to thank the Children’s Hospital Leadership Council and event chair Megan Del Priory for all of their hard work on behalf of Unterberg Children’s Hospital,” Carney said. “Philanthropy is an important part of making sure that the care we provide to the children in our community remains the best and most advanced, and we are so grateful to them for their investment in our future, so that we can make the future of the children of our community even better.”
